Fractional CMO Services

The strategy of an executive.
The muscle of a full team.

We become your CMO function: a full bench of strategists and specialists who slot in alongside your existing team, or step in as your entire marketing department when you need to move fast.

Mina-WEB-03090

You don't need a person. You need a team that thinks like an executive.

When you bring us on as your outsourced CMO, you’re not getting one strategist parachuting in with a deck and a monthly call. You’re getting our whole fractional marketing team, deployed exactly how your business needs it right now:

  • Already have marketing help in-house? We slot in above or alongside them—setting strategy, connecting the dots between channels, and making sure the people already doing the work have real direction.
  • Need more hands, fast? We bring the cavalry—SEO, paid ads, content, social, design, web—so you’re never stuck waiting on hiring or onboarding to keep up with a big season or a big opportunity.

Same accountability. Same strategic ownership. Just built with the flexibility to flex up or down as your business actually does.

A single fractional CMO is still just one person - one set of hands, one set of hours, one point of failure if they're stretched too thin or out sick during your biggest launch. We built something different.

Marketing spend that moves with your business, not against it

Your business isn’t the same every month, so why would your marketing team be?

We built this model specifically so you can turn spend and support up during your in-demand seasons—launches, peak months, big pushes—and turn it back down during the natural lulls, without losing momentum or paying for a team you don’t need that month.

This is exactly the kind of flexibility that matters for established, complex businesses: senior strategic direction across every channel, with support that scales as priorities shift throughout the year.

And we do it all month-to-month. No long-term contracts. No penalty for pulling back when things are slow. Just a retainer that flexes with you, season after season.

Our Brands

Breaking Through with Erica

Here's what that actually looks like with us

Strategic ownership, not just execution. Every channel, every campaign, every dollar ties back to a strategy that’s actually yours—built around your goals, your season, and your capacity.

One point of accountability. No more chasing down three different vendors to figure out why nothing’s connected. We see the whole picture and make sure every piece of your marketing works with each other, not around each other.

A full team, sized to the moment. Some months that means a light strategic hand guiding your existing staff. Other months it means our full team executing top to bottom. You’re never locked into more—or less—than you actually need.

Real numbers, real check-ins. A live KPI dashboard and regular strategy calls mean you always know what’s working, what’s not, and what we’re doing about it. No black boxes. No guessing.

No long-term contracts. Month-to-month retainers, built to flex with your business instead of locking you into a scope that made sense six months ago and doesn’t anymore.

Who This is Good For

You’re probably a good fit if:

  • You have marketing spend and maybe even marketing people, but no one connecting it all to your actual business goals
  • Your needs shift seasonally, and you need a partner who can scale with you instead of a fixed retainer that doesn’t flex
  • You want senior strategic thinking and the team to execute it, without hiring both separately
  • You want a partner who can work alongside the team you already have, not replace them

You’re probably not a good fit if you need one dedicated person sitting in a chair full-time, managing an internal team day to day. That’s a different role, and we’ll tell you that honestly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a marketing agency act as my CMO?

Yes—that’s exactly what we do. Instead of hiring one fractional executive, you get our full team functioning as your CMO: setting strategy, directing channels, and owning the outcomes, backed by the specialists to actually execute it.

Do I need a fractional CMO or a marketing agency?

If you have execution happening (ads, SEO, social) but no one connecting it to your business goals, you need the strategic layer a fractional CMO provides. We combine both, so you’re not stuck choosing.

Then, we use that information to guide our language and voice choices when writing captions and creating graphics. You will also have a chance to review all posts before they’re published, and you can provide feedback if you feel the tone or voice is off. This process happens in Loomly (this is our social media management software – no Google Docs here!). Our software allows you to see a preview of each post on each platform just as it will be displayed! You can make comments, add additions, and approve posts directly in the app; keep in mind there’s always a bit of a refining process in the first couple of months that help steer us toward a consistent, clear voice for your brand. Additionally, our team has its own internal proofing process to ensure our creative and copywriting are always on point! By the time our client reviews their social media, it has already been reviewed by three people (social media impact, copy, and creative teams), eliminating time-wasting mistakes!

Can a fractional CMO work alongside my existing marketing person or team?

Absolutely. We regularly embed alongside an in-house hire or existing vendor, providing the senior strategy and oversight they need without replacing the people you already trust.

Having a social media strategy in place will ensure that your social media efforts are more fruitful and that you are working to support your broader business goals. Putting a strategy together includes outlining your business goals so we can work backward to create posts that reinforce them.

Social media strategy can help you:

  • boost your SEO
  • direct traffic to your website
  • gain customer insights through authentic engagement
  • create brand loyalty
  • launch products and drive sales
  • educate your ideal customer
How much does a fractional CMO cost for a small business?

It depends on scope and how much support you need month to month—but since we work on flexible, month-to-month retainers instead of long-term contracts, you’re never locked into a fixed cost that doesn’t match your season.

Consistency on social media not only communicates trust and reliability to your followers, but it’s also a great way to get on the algorithm’s “good side.” For example, what would you think if you saw that a brand had once been consistently posting on social media, but now it’s been two months since their last post? “Have they closed?” “Did something bad happen?” “They must not be doing well.” Those are thoughts we never want your potential customers to think. A consistent presence on social media reaffirms that you’re an active, responsive business ready to take them on as a customer, and ultimately, that leads to results.

We also go beyond vanity results and don’t use them as our only indicators of growth. Followers are great, but 100,000 followers who don’t really care about you are much less valuable than 1,000 followers who love what you do. We audit who is following you (and, more importantly, who is engaging with you) to further refine your ideal audience and understand the type of person attracted by your content, products, or services. Focusing on what will appeal to your ideal clients is essential because that looks different to every business. It doesn’t matter if your cousin Sal doesn’t connect with the content you’re putting out; Sal isn’t the one who will be bringing money to your business!

What's the difference between a fractional CMO and an outsourced marketing team?

Not much, in practice—the terms are often used interchangeably. What matters more is whether you’re getting strategic ownership plus a team that can execute, which is how we’ve built this.

Every social media post should have a deeper purpose than just being pretty; the ultimate goal should be to drive people to your website, your store, or anywhere else you can directly connect with them and get them in your universe. We’ve seen it happen too often that a business relies solely on social media only to have their Instagram hacked, their Facebook banned, or their content gets blocked and leaves them without any contact with their once-loyal customers. Your website and email list are your insurance policy that ensures you have a direct line of communication with your customers no matter what.

When you work with The Mina Company, we understand all the moving parts and work to cover your bases from the very beginning!

🎉 Happy Birthday to the incredible Megan! 🎉

Five years ago, The Mina Company gained a team member. What we didn't know then was how much she'd help us grow into who we are today.

Megan has this rare gift: give her a problem — whether it's a tricky website build, a photography challenge, a digital ad campaign that needs a spark, or an SEO puzzle nobody else can crack — and give her a little time (and coffee ☕) and she will figure it out. Every single time.

She's helped us innovate in ways we couldn't have imagined five years ago, and she's done it all while bringing a positivity to our team that makes every day better.

We're so grateful for everything Megan brings to The Mina Company. Here's to celebrating you today, Megan — we hope you're soaking up the mountain views this weekend and taking some well-earned time to relax and recharge. 🏔️

The Mina Network: Jenna Lee Dillon of Gutsy Money 💰

If you're avoiding your books, guessing at your numbers, or not sure if you're actually making money even though revenue looks fine, Jenna Lee is who I call.

She and her team at Gutsy Money help women business owners build real financial confidence, whether that means setting up your accounting system from scratch, cleaning up books that have fallen behind, handling your monthly or quarterly bookkeeping, prepping your taxes, or even advising on a business acquisition. They meet you wherever you are financially and build from there.

What makes Jenna Lee different is she's been in it. She's founded six companies, sold one for 82x ROI after she took over the books and right-sized the business herself. She knows what it feels like to run the numbers at midnight and wonder if you're doing it right. That's exactly why she built Gutsy Money: so women business owners stop fearing their finances and start using them as a tool to grow.

Marketing has a jargon problem.

Somewhere along the way, agencies decided that sounding complicated was the same as sounding smart. So business owners end up nodding through meetings, signing off on strategies they were never actually given the chance to understand.

We don't work that way. If you know what SEO, a funnel, and a KPI actually mean, you can make real decisions about your own marketing. That's the point. You don't need to become a marketer, you just deserve to know what you're paying for.

Save this one for your next marketing meeting, wherever it happens to be.

Anything you've always wondered about but never wanted to ask? Drop it in the comments and we'll explain it, plainly.
